What is the difference studying Computer Engineering and CSIT course ?

When it comes to choosing a course for who is interested in computers there are two most famous courses students find in Nepal. Both courses mostly offered by Tribhuwan university are perfect fit for someone who wants to learn about computers or expects to have a career in computers and technology. Both courses are significantly well designed and are great for people with their specific needs.

In this article,  I am going to briefly talk about which course to go with depending on your interests. If you don’t like the idea of reading the whole article there is a short video at the end that can be a good substitute. If I were you and choosing a course for my future, I would read whole article.

Computer Engineering:

Simply computer engineering is a discipline that integrates several fields of computer science and electronics.Which means generally a Computer Engineer needs to have knowledge of physical components of computer and software needed to drive those components. As a whole computer engineer knows how to build and repair a computer system. Computer engineers not just develop softwares but also work with hardware. So its more like a course that has higher practical implementation and deals with both computer hardware and software.

CSIT:

CSIT stands for Computer Science and Information technology. Its kind of more theoretical course and deals more with the theoretical aspects of computer and is less practical. Computer science mostly deals with the theories that are bound to create computer systems and their implementation for making mankind better. CSIT is not that theoretical in our case for Nepal. CSIT students generally don’t deal with computer hardware but are exposed to the computer software programming quite a lot and which is why it is favourite for people interested in programming only.

What is the major difference in Computer Engineering and CSIT course ?

.8. Engineering Projects Major/Minor Projects Major/Minor Projects Projects given more emphasis in Engineering.
9. Scholarship Full / Partial Scholarships Minimum of Rs. 20,000 per semester Scholarship opportunites in Computer Engineering
10. Colleges and Faculites 2 public colleges under TU. 10+ private colleges. Plenty of public and private colleges. Comparitively better facilities and faculties for computer engineering.
So there were some factors that made those courses different and similar to each other. Now time for some more suggestions that you could use to find which course will work for you better

Final Thoughts:

Know your goals and interests
Before choosing a particular college, talk to seniors and alumni from different colleges.
Try finding people working in different fields or field of your choice and try asking which course was right for them
Do a lot of research and point the differences between course and have a clear idea of what you are going to learn
Don’t keep misconceptions just ask anyone who can answer your questions reasonably
Don’t just follow your friends, parents and relatives but sometimes its good to understand how they feel about the course.
Follow your interests.
